UK Visa Application Form: Guide and Examples

On this page, we have put together a detailed guide to completing the UK Standard Visitor visa application form, along with completed application examples for 2026. We explain the questions about the purpose of your visit, employment, income, expenses, accommodation and previous travel. You can download sample applications in English and their Russian translations, compare the questions with example answers and prepare the information for your own application. If you need further clarification, ask your questions in the comments or contact the specialists at Go for Travel for help completing your application.

The UK visa application form is one of the main documents in your application. It sets out the purpose of your visit, your personal circumstances and how you will pay for the trip. Visa officers at UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) assess this information alongside your supporting documents, considering your plans, financial circumstances and intention to return after your visit. It is therefore important to understand each question, enter dates and amounts accurately, and provide additional explanations where needed. Significant errors, incomplete answers and unexplained discrepancies with your documents may raise doubts about the reliability of the information provided and affect the visa decision. Your answers should present a consistent account of your circumstances and agree with the documents you submit.

Our specialists are often contacted by applicants whose UK visa applications have been refused after they applied independently. These enquiries highlight the importance of understanding the form before applying and carefully checking the information on which the application will be assessed. To help applicants complete the UK visa application form in 2026, we have prepared this detailed section: it brings together completed application examples with Russian translations, explanations of questions about travel, employment and finances, guidance on checking your information, and answers to frequently asked questions. Use these materials to understand how the form works and prepare your own answers based on your circumstances, plans and supporting documents. If you still have questions, leave them in the comments for this section. If you need help from our specialists, you can request assistance with your UK visa application.

Where to Complete the UK Visa Application Online

The UK visa application form is completed online using the official UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) service. This section covers the Standard Visitor visa application, which is for short visits to the United Kingdom, including tourism, visits to family and friends, and permitted business visits. This category is not intended for employment with a UK company or moving to live with family long term: for those purposes, you need to choose the appropriate UK visa type. You can start your application from the Standard Visitor visa page on GOV.UK by clicking Apply now, or use the direct link to the UKVI form. Before completing it, read the introductory information carefully and make sure the category matches the purpose of your visit. The subsequent questions will cover your personal circumstances, employment, finances, previous travel and plans for your stay in the United Kingdom.

The opening screen offers a choice of languages for the questions and guidance, including Russian, but your answers must be entered in English regardless of the option selected. We recommend choosing English for the questions and guidance, because translations of individual phrases may not convey their meaning precisely and can cause confusion when preparing answers. Go for Travel specialists also always use the English version of the form so that they can work from the original questions and avoid misinterpreting them. The service itself warns that translations are provided to help applicants, while the English version of the questions is used when assessing the application. Enter first names and surnames in Latin characters exactly as they appear in your international passport, and write explanations about your work, funding and purpose of travel in English. Do not replace a translation of these explanations with Russian words written in Latin letters, and check that each answer addresses the question being asked.

You do not have to complete the form in one sitting: you can save an application you have started and continue later. When registering, provide an active email address that you can regularly access, and check that it is spelled correctly. UKVI will send an email to that address with a link to sign back in, followed by further messages about your application. Keep the registration email: to continue your application, follow its link and enter your sign-in details. If you cannot find the email, check your spam folder and the official guidance on returning to your application. Before signing out, make sure the information you entered has been saved. After completing the form and checking your answers, you also pay the visa fee online as part of the application process in the UKVI service. Before proceeding to payment, carefully check your passport details, selected visa category and all other information, then save the payment confirmation and any available copies of the application.

Documents and Information to Prepare for the Application

Before you start completing the UK visa application form in English, we recommend that you prepare your supporting documents and gather all the necessary information. Check that your documents are up to date, confirm dates and amounts, and work out your itinerary and how you will pay for the trip. With this information to hand, it is easier to answer the questions consistently without long interruptions to check details. If you do not yet have an accurate answer, do not enter temporary or approximate information simply to move to the next page: it is easy to forget to correct it later and submit an application containing inaccurate information. It is better to save the application and return once you have confirmed the answer.

Your application should give a consistent account of your circumstances: the purpose of your visit, family situation, employment, finances and sources of funding for the trip. UKVI visa officers compare this information with the documents submitted, so your answers must reflect your actual circumstances and agree with the supporting evidence. If you find discrepancies in dates, amounts or other details while preparing, establish the reasons before completing the form: mistakes must be corrected, while significant differences, such as those arising from the period used to calculate income, should be clearly explained. This approach helps you prepare a coherent application without unexplained inconsistencies. The main information and documents to prepare in advance are listed below.

Checklist of Documents and Information for the Application

  • Passport, personal details and contact information. Have your current international passport ready, along with any previous first names and surnames, citizenship details, your actual residential address and how long you have lived there. Check your telephone number and email address. Previous passports may help you confirm visa and travel details if the relevant questions appear in the form.
  • Family and travelling companions. Confirm your parents’ names and dates of birth, and details of your spouse or partner and children. For a joint trip, prepare information about the people accompanying you. A child needs a separate application; the parents’ details, itinerary and funding arrangements must be consistent with the family’s plans.
  • Employment, education and sources of income. Prepare details of your current occupation: your employer or educational institution, job title, dates and contact information. Confirm your sources and amount of income for the period specified in the form. For a business owner, student, pensioner or applicant who is not working, prepare documents and explanations supporting their occupation and sources of funds.
  • Bank balance letters and statements. Before completing the form, obtain up-to-date balance letters and statements showing account transactions. Compare your declared income, monthly expenses and savings with the documents. Consider the calculation period and the source of incoming funds: for example, a transfer between your own accounts is not new income. Significant discrepancies need to be explained.
  • Expenses and funding for the trip. Calculate your personal travel budget, usual monthly expenses and the amount of any support from another person. Confirm who will pay for tickets, accommodation and day-to-day expenses. The budget must be consistent with the funds available and your continuing expenses at home. If a sponsor is helping, prepare information about them, your relationship and the amount of financial support.
  • Itinerary, accommodation and host. Plan the dates, duration and purpose of your visit, the cities you will visit and the addresses where you expect to stay. When visiting family or friends, confirm their contact details and relationship to you. If the trip includes both tourism and a personal visit, prepare a clear, consistent description of both parts of the itinerary.
  • Travel, visas and previous decisions. Check travel dates against your passports and personal records; depending on the question, you may need your travel history for the past 10 years. Prepare information about previous refusals and other circumstances covered by the form. Do not replace an unknown date with a random one: check the available documents first.

Online Transliteration Tool for the Application

To prepare information in Latin characters, use our online transliteration tool for the UK visa application form. It helps you write addresses and organisation names in Latin characters for entry in the application. Enter the original Russian text, obtain the Latin-character version and check it before copying it into the UKVI form. In the passport fields, enter your surname and first name exactly as they appear in your international passport. Transliteration represents the spelling of words but does not translate their meaning: explanations about your employment, funding and purpose of travel must be written in English.

Completed UK Visa Application Examples

When you contact Go for Travel for UK visa application assistance, our specialists complete the application form in English for you. We use the Russian-language questionnaire you fill in at the start of the process and the documents you provide. We take account of current UKVI requirements and completion guidance, and enter first names and surnames exactly as they appear in your international passport. Before the application is submitted to UKVI, the completed form is always sent to you for review. You can read all the answers, check the details and let us know about any clarifications or requests so that we can make the necessary corrections before submission.

For those planning to apply independently, we publish three completed UK Standard Visitor visa application examples: for a man, a woman and a child from the same family. The examples help explain the wording of the questions and show how to present employment, income, funding and the purpose of travel. Prospective clients can also familiarise themselves with the application and understand what information they will need to provide to our specialists. All personal details, amounts and circumstances in the examples are entirely fictional. Any resemblance to real people or their circumstances is coincidental.

In this illustrative scenario, a father, mother and child travel to the United Kingdom from 28 November to 13 December for 16 days and 15 nights. The trip combines tourism in London and Oxford with a visit to the mother’s brother in Brighton and Hove. The family spends ten nights in hotels and five nights with the relative, who provides accommodation and meals during their stay with him. The father pays the main travel expenses. These examples show how a shared itinerary, family relationships and the allocation of costs are reflected in three separate applications. Use the examples to help you understand the form, and enter your own circumstances, dates and amounts in your application.

UK Visa Application Example for a Man

In this example, the man pays for the trip for his wife and son, so particular attention is given to his employment and financial circumstances. The Employment section states that the applicant is the director of a travel company in Saint Petersburg and works remotely from Moscow. His monthly salary after tax is GBP 3,107, his personal savings are GBP 21,802, and his usual monthly expenses are GBP 1,800. The additional explanation clarifies that the last amount includes his contribution to household expenses and support for his son. This information makes it possible to compare the cost of the family trip with the applicant’s income, savings and ongoing commitments.

Note how the budget is allocated: the field for personal travel expenses shows GBP 3,200, while the Extra information section on page 12 explains the total cost of the trip for three people, GBP 7,600. Of this amount, GBP 3,200 is allocated to the applicant, GBP 2,500 to his wife and GBP 1,900 to his son. The budget covers return travel, paid accommodation, local transport, meals and sightseeing. A separate explanation states that his wife’s brother will accommodate the family free of charge in Hove from 2 to 7 December, while the applicant will pay for accommodation on the remaining nights. This approach distinguishes the man’s personal budget, the costs he covers for family members, and the support provided by the host relative.

As the applicant is the main sponsor of the trip in this example, his application and supporting documents need to be checked particularly carefully for consistency with his wife’s and child’s applications. Problems substantiating the sponsor’s funds could lead to refusals for all three applicants. For example, if UKVI considers the declared income or savings unreliable or insufficient to pay for the family trip, this may call the funding for his wife and son into question even if their own forms have been completed correctly. However, a refusal for the man does not automatically mean refusals for the others: each application is assessed separately. It is therefore important to explain the sources of funds, allocation of expenses and ability to pay for the trip in detail, taking account of UKVI’s requirements for funding a visit.

Completing an Application for a Man: Tips and Explanations

  • Purpose of travel and the shared itinerary. In this example, the man is travelling with his wife and son: the family combines sightseeing in London and Oxford with a visit to a relative in Brighton and Hove. The explanation of the trip should connect both purposes to a specific accommodation plan. The dates, 28 November to 13 December 2026, must be consistent across all three applications.
  • Personal expenses and the total family budget. The scenario provides GBP 7,600 for three people: GBP 3,200 for the father, GBP 2,500 for the mother and GBP 1,900 for the child. When answering financial questions, distinguish the cost of your own trip from expenses you will cover for others. Do not enter the total family budget in every application as the applicant’s personal expenses.
  • Employment, income and available funds. Details of the employer and earnings should be considered alongside the family’s usual expenses and the savings used to pay for the trip. A bank account balance is not the same as monthly income. Check the period and currency of each amount and how it relates to the employment letter and financial documents you plan to attach.
  • Support from the host relative. The wife’s brother provides accommodation and meals for the family for five nights in Brighton and Hove. Under this scenario, the father pays all other expenses. The application and invitation should describe the extent of this help consistently: free accommodation for part of the itinerary should not be presented as the relative paying for the entire family trip.
  • Consistency with the wife and son’s applications. Check the travelling party, travel dates, accommodation addresses and allocation of expenses. Each person’s relationship to the host is different: he is the man’s brother-in-law, the woman’s brother and the child’s uncle. If you change the itinerary or budget, check the corresponding answers in all three forms.
  • The applicant’s personal history. Travelling together does not mean family members have the same previous passports, overseas travel or visa decisions. Enter your own history for the period specified in the question, and check dates against your documents. If a question concerns refusals or breaches of immigration rules, answer according to the actual circumstances and explain them in the field provided where necessary.
  • Additional explanations in Extra information. Use this section if the standard questions do not allow you to explain your circumstances fully. In the example, the applicant clarifies that he is paying for all three travellers, the relative provides free accommodation for five nights, and his monthly expenses of GBP 1,800 include his share of household costs and support for his son. These explanations connect the details of his personal budget, family funding and accommodation arrangements.
  • Cover letter. If your circumstances need a fuller explanation, you can attach a separate letter in English and briefly identify the main point in Extra information. For example, you may explain the source of a large deposit into your account, differences between gross and net salary, or remote work for an employer based in another city. Identify the documents supporting your explanation. Correct inaccurate dates, amounts and other details in the application itself before submitting it.

UK Visa Application Example for a Woman

This UK visa application example shows how to describe the financial circumstances of an employed applicant whose husband is sponsoring her trip. The Employment section states that the woman has worked as chief accountant for a travel company in Saint Petersburg since January 2020. Her monthly salary after tax is GBP 1,193 and her usual expenses are GBP 800; she declares no additional income or savings in the form. The questions about funding the trip include her husband’s details and the amount of his financial support, GBP 2,500. The explanation lists what he will pay for: return travel, paid accommodation, local transport, meals and sightseeing. The applicant’s own employment and income are explained separately from the source of funding for her trip.

In this example, the husband’s support is also distinguished from the help provided by the host relative. The applicant’s brother, a British citizen, will accommodate her, her husband and her son free of charge in Hove from 2 to 7 December; hotels in London and Oxford are listed for the remaining nights. The Extra information section brings these arrangements together: her husband pays for the trip, her brother provides accommodation for part of it, and the applicant herself works remotely from Moscow. It also clarifies that her monthly expenses include personal spending and a contribution to household costs. The example additionally shows how to declare the previous surname Titova and explain a US J-1 visa refusal in April 2010, followed by obtaining a visa and travelling to the United States.

It covers her employment and own income, her husband's payment for the trip and her visit to her brother. The translation helps explain the applicant's answers. PDF, 29 pages.

Completing an Application for a Woman: Important Explanations

  • Her own employment and income. In this family scenario, the applicant has a job and earnings even though her husband pays the main travel expenses. These are separate facts: a spouse paying for a trip does not mean that the applicant has no income of her own. In the employment section, enter your own position, employer and financial details, and explain the payment arrangements in the questions about funding the trip.
  • The spouse paying for the trip. The example allocates GBP 2,500 to the woman’s trip as part of a total family budget of GBP 7,600. Her application should clearly explain who is providing the funds and which expenses they cover. The payer’s details and the amount of support must agree with her husband’s application and the financial evidence prepared.
  • Documentary evidence of sponsorship. The applicant’s employment letter confirms her own work and income, while payment for the trip by her husband must be supported by his documents. For the circumstances in this example, prepare a sponsorship letter from the husband stating whom he is funding, the amount and the expenses covered; his employment letter showing his position and salary; bank documents showing balances and transactions; and the marriage certificate. A balance letter alone does not explain where the money came from or the arrangements for paying for the trip. The documents must demonstrate both the husband’s willingness to pay for the trip and his financial ability to do so. The amounts, sources of funds and allocation of expenses must be consistent with both spouses’ applications.
  • Her brother in the United Kingdom. In this example, the host is the applicant’s brother, who is a British citizen. Check his name, contact details, address and status against the invitation and the host’s documents. In her husband’s application, the same person is his wife’s brother, and in the child’s application he is the maternal uncle.
  • Staying with family and in hotels. The family spends five nights with the brother and ten nights in hotels. The explanation of the visit must therefore cover the whole itinerary, not just the stay with the relative. Confirm the dates of each move and specify that the brother provides accommodation and meals during the family visit, while the husband pays the main monetary expenses.
  • Previous surname and family details. If you have changed your surname, answer the relevant question with all previous names requested. Check your current personal details against your valid international passport and marriage and child information against family documents. Differences in spelling or a previous surname in the documents should have a clear explanation; they should not be omitted from the application simply to make the details appear identical.
  • Her own visa history and circumstances. Do not copy your spouse’s answers about previous travel, refusals, employment or education. Even when travelling together, applicants may have different dates, passports and visa application histories. Before submission, check your own answers separately, then compare the shared details of the forthcoming visit with your husband’s and child’s applications.

UK Visa Application Example for a Child

This UK visa application example shows how to complete an application for a schoolchild who lives in Moscow and travels with both parents. A student is selected in the Employment section, while Child traveller lists the mother and father, their passport details, contact information and the fact that they live with the child. The Extra information section explains that the parents will care for their son throughout the trip and return home with him. Particular attention is given to his education: the school has approved his absence from 30 November to 11 December, teachers have provided assignments for that period, and he is due to return to classes on 14 December. The explanation also states that supporting school documents are attached to the application. In your own application, check the travel dates and absence from classes against the supporting documents from the school.

The father sponsors the trip: GBP 1,900 is allocated to the child’s travel from the total family budget of GBP 7,600. The financial section also records regular pocket money from his parents of GBP 1,500 per year, or GBP 125 per month. The additional information clarifies that the parents pay the main costs of supporting their son separately. The example distinguishes pocket money, the child’s day-to-day support and funding for his trip. The host relative is described as the child’s uncle, a British citizen, who will accommodate the family in Hove free of charge from 2 to 7 December. For the remaining nights, the application lists hotels in London and Oxford paid for by the father.

A UK Visa Application for a Child: Points to Consider

  • A separate application and the child’s own details. A child needs an individual application even if their documents are submitted at the same time as their parents’ applications. The personal sections must contain the child’s details from their international passport; information about adults belongs in the relevant questions. Check the name, date of birth, citizenship and document details, without substituting the details of the person completing the form on the child’s behalf.
  • Accompanying adults. In our example, the child travels with both mother and father. The child’s application must correctly identify the accompanying adults, with their names, passport and contact details checked against the parents’ applications. If the accompanying party is different in your actual trip, describe your own circumstances: this example should not be copied unchanged for travel with one parent or another adult. State the accompanying person’s relationship to the child.
  • Future travel without an accompanying adult. If the child is expected to travel without adults during the visa’s validity, state this in the application and explain the plans in Extra information. Ask UKVI to consider issuing a child unaccompanied visa and explain the arrangements for travel, accommodation and care of the child. Still identify the actual accompanying adults for the first trip, and after the visa is issued, check the accompaniment conditions and whether travel without an adult is permitted.
  • Payment for the trip and evidence of sponsorship. In the example, the father pays GBP 1,900 for the child’s trip from the GBP 7,600 family budget. In the funding questions, identify the sponsor, the amount of support and the expenses covered. The answers must agree with the father’s application, sponsorship letter, employment letter and bank documents. Evidence of funding must also support the child’s application. Do not declare the parents’ salary or savings as the child’s own funds.
  • Accommodation and the uncle’s support. The child follows the same itinerary as the parents: ten nights in hotels and five nights with the maternal uncle in Hove. Check the dates, addresses and host’s details. The uncle’s provision of accommodation and meals for part of the itinerary should be described separately from the father’s payment of the other expenses.
  • Education and returning to classes. In the illustrative scenario, absence from school is planned from 30 November to 11 December, the family returns on 13 December, and classes resume on 14 December 2026. For your own trip, use the actual school schedule and the absence arrangements agreed with the school. If you attach a school letter, its dates and explanations must agree with the application and travel plans.
  • Reviewing the answers with the parents. Information about previous trips, passports and visa decisions relates to the child and may differ from the adults’ histories. After completion, the parents should read the child’s entire form and compare the shared dates, accompaniment, accommodation and funding with their own applications. Any change to the family itinerary must also be checked in the child’s application.

Tips for Completing the UK Visa Application Form

Advice on completing the UK visa application form depends on each applicant’s circumstances: the same questions may call for different answers and explanations. When a client contacts our organisation, our specialists discuss the purpose and plans for the trip, employment and financial circumstances in Russia, family situation and previous visa history. Based on this information and the prepared UK visa documents, we explain how to describe the actual circumstances in the form, what details need clarification and where additional explanations are required. This review allows us to give specific advice suited to your situation.

Over the years of working with UK visa applications, we have identified the main questions that regularly arise when people complete the form themselves. Below are seven practical tips to help you understand the wording, check personal details, describe the trip and its funding, align family applications and review the form before submission. Use this guidance alongside the examples, adapting your answers to your own circumstances. If you would like an individual review and help completing the form, submit an enquiry on our website: our specialists will discuss your forthcoming trip and the application preparation process with you.

Read Each Question Together with Its Guidance

Before answering, read each question carefully together with the explanation beneath it. We recommend selecting English for the questions and guidance from the outset: the Russian translation of some phrases may be inaccurate and lead to mistakes. Check the period covered by the question, the currency in which an amount should be entered, and whom the question concerns. For example, an applicant's personal travel expenses may differ from the total family budget, and monthly income differs from annual income. If you are unsure about the wording, ask a question in the comments below or in our Telegram chat about UK visas.

Check the Spelling of Names and Document Numbers

Enter the applicant's surname and first name exactly as they appear in the international passport. Write previous names and surnames, other people's names, addresses and organisation names in Latin characters using the current transliteration rules. Make sure the spelling is consistent throughout the form. Separately check the document number, issue and expiry dates, date of birth and citizenship. Transliteration is not a substitute for translation: explanations about employment, income and the purpose of travel must be written in English. Our transliteration section provides detailed rules and a free online tool for the UK visa application form.

Explain the Purpose of the Visit and Your Itinerary

State why you are travelling to the United Kingdom, how long you plan to stay and where you expect to stay. If the trip combines tourism and visiting relatives, explain both purposes and how you will divide your time between them. Dates, accommodation addresses and the length of the visit should form one consistent itinerary. Describe the trip in enough detail for a UKVI officer to understand which places you plan to visit, where you will stay and how much time you will spend in each location. If you will stay with a relative for part of the trip, explain where you will stay for the rest. For a Standard Visitor visa, you do not need to book a hotel or buy flights in advance. See the official UKVI guide to supporting documents for details.

Distinguish Your Own Funds from Sponsor Support

State your income, savings, travel budget and financial support from another person separately. If a sponsor pays for all or part of the trip, explain your relationship, the amount of support and exactly which expenses they will cover. Ask the sponsor to provide a letter explaining the reason for their support, the expenses covered and the duration of the assistance. Demonstrate their financial means with documents appropriate to the circumstances: for example, bank statements showing the source of funds and, if the sponsor is employed, an employer's letter confirming their position, salary and length of service. Free accommodation with a relative does not mean that the relative is funding the whole trip. Check the details and amounts of support against the application and documents, explaining the origin of funds where necessary. Evidence of financial circumstances and sponsor support is described in UKVI's document guidance.

Align Family Applications Without Copying Personal Answers

For a joint trip, compare dates, accommodation addresses, the travelling party and the allocation of expenses across all applications. Each applicant has their own employment, income, visa history and relationship to the host. Copying answers with Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V can transfer information about a different person into another application and cause errors. Complete each application separately, checking personal answers against that applicant's documents. For example, the same person may be the woman's brother, the man's brother-in-law and the child's uncle. In the child's application, separately check accompaniment, funding and parental details. If the itinerary or budget changes, make the corresponding corrections in every application affected.

Do Not Provide False Information in the Application

Even if UKVI does not arrange an in-person interview, the information in the application and the documents may be checked. Do not overstate your income, invent an employer or conceal previous visa refusals. Do not invent a purpose of travel or circumstances in Russia, and do not submit forged employment or bank letters. If your situation is difficult to substantiate, describe it honestly in Extra information and attach genuine documents. Explanations help clarify your circumstances but do not guarantee approval. An accidental error and deliberate deception are assessed differently. Where deception is proven, the visa is refused and subsequent entry clearance applications within 10 years are subject to mandatory refusal. See UKVI's guidance on false information and documents for details.

Read the Application Again Before Final Confirmation

Preparing documents, arranging translations, registering an online account and completing the form takes time, so individual inaccuracies can be easy to overlook. Before submitting, read the entire application and check the answers against your passport, financial documents and travel plans. If time allows, return to the review a few days later with fresh eyes. Check dates, amounts and consistency between answers. If someone else completed the application, review it yourself. If a further check after payment of the visa fee reveals a significant error, it may sometimes be better to withdraw the application and submit a new one than to continue with incorrect information. When a Standard Visitor visa application is withdrawn before biometrics are provided at the visa application centre, UKVI refunds the visa fee in full. See the official UKVI visa fee refund guidance for details.

How to Check Your UK Visa Application Before Submission

Before submitting your application to UKVI and paying the visa fee, check the completed UK visa application form. Compare your personal details, employment, income, expenses, family composition and funding sources with the documents you have prepared. Dates, amounts and explanations must agree both within the application and with the supporting evidence. If another person pays for all or part of the trip, or you plan to stay with relatives, separately check the sponsor’s details, the amount of support and the accommodation arrangements. Below we show which application sections and documents to compare before final submission.

Carry out the final check using the complete set of documents that you plan to provide to UKVI. Open the completed application and your prepared documents: your international passport, employment letter, financial evidence, invitation and other materials relevant to your circumstances, including any required translations. Compare your answers with the actual details in the final documents. If the document set is later supplemented or changed, repeat the check to ensure the new materials do not contradict the application. For family applications, it is convenient to review all travellers’ forms together. First compare the main details, dates and amounts, then reread the descriptions of the purpose of travel and additional information. Pay particular attention to sections completed at different times: after a change to the itinerary, budget or travelling party, an earlier answer may still contain outdated information.

Personal Details and Family Information

Application Form International Passport Family Documents
Details that must match

Check the first name and surname, date of birth, citizenship, international passport number and its issue and expiry dates. When checking the details of a spouse, children and parents, use the relevant documents, especially if information was entered from memory or copied from an old application. For family applications, compare the spelling of the same people's names and surnames, shared addresses and other repeated details across all forms. Avoid accidental differences in transliteration, dates and document numbers: information about the same person, address or fact must be consistent across applications. Make sure you have correctly stated your marital status and answered questions about any previous names and surnames. If documents show different Latin spellings of a name, check the reason and use the details from the document specified in the question. Separately check the email address and telephone number you provided for contact.

Purpose, Dates and Itinerary of the Trip

Application Form Travel Plan Invitation
Details that must match

Compare the intended arrival and departure dates with the length of the trip, the sequence of cities and the accommodation arrangements. The information in the application must agree with the travel plan and supporting documents you attach. For example, the application should not state that you have no relatives in the United Kingdom while including an invitation from a relative. Similarly, stating that you will stay only in hotels conflicts with an invitation in which the host promises to accommodate you for the entire trip. Tourism and visiting relatives can be combined: describe both purposes and explain where you plan to stay at each stage. If you have an invitation, check the host's address, dates and description of your shared plans. After changing the itinerary, review every answer that mentions it. For example, shortening the trip may require revising the number of nights and the budget. The length of the forthcoming visit and the requested visa validity are different things and must not be confused.

Employment, Income and Bank Deposits

Application Form Employment Letter Bank Statement
Details that must match

Check the employer's name, your position, employment start date and income. When comparing amounts, consider the calculation period, currency and whether income is stated before or after tax. The basic salary in an employment letter, average income including bonuses and the actual payment for a particular month may differ, but the reason must be clear. Compare your declared monthly income with bank deposits and your monthly expenses. If deposits or expenses significantly exceed your salary, explain the difference: for example, you may have additional income, financial help from family or be using savings. Declare additional sources of income in the application and support them with documents. Separately check the source of large deposits: transfers between your own accounts and refunds of money previously spent are not new income. Unexplained discrepancies between the application, employment letter and bank statement may raise questions for a UKVI visa officer.

Monthly Expenses, Savings and Travel Budget

Application Form Expense Calculation Financial Documents
Details that must match

Distinguish regular expenses in your country of residence, existing savings and expected travel costs. Check that monthly expenses include your ongoing commitments and that the travel budget covers transport, accommodation and day-to-day spending during the visit. Compare the total with the number of travellers and the length of the trip. If you pay for a spouse or child, make sure it is clear where your personal share is stated and where the total family amount appears. Compare the travel budget with your bank account balances: the trip must not leave you without funds for everyday living and continuing commitments at home. If travel costs account for all or almost all of the documented balance, check which other available funds or continuing income will cover those expenses, and provide supporting documents. Recheck the currency of each answer and the arithmetic: the budget must be justified in relation to your income, savings and expenses.

Trip Funding and Consistency Across Family Applications

Applicant's Form Family Members' Forms Evidence of Support
Details that must match

If another person pays for all or part of the trip, compare their details, the nature of your relationship and the extent of their support. Check the travel funding details against the sponsorship letter. If the sponsor is not a close relative, make sure the application and supporting documents clearly explain your connection and why this person is paying for your UK trip. The application and documents must also make clear which expenses they cover and whether the support extends to other travellers. Free accommodation with a relative and full payment for a trip represent different levels of support. For family applications, check shared dates, accommodation addresses, accompanying adults and the allocation of costs across all forms. If one traveller arrives later, leaves earlier or pays their own share, reflect their actual circumstances. Shared information must be consistent, and the reasons for individual differences should be clear from the travellers' answers.

Previous Travel, Visas Granted and Refusals

Application Form Previous Passports Visa Decisions
Details that must match

Check your travel history against your current and previous passports, tickets and other available evidence. Review visits to the United Kingdom and other countries over the past 10 years, including the number of trips to the countries listed in the relevant application question. For each trip entered, verify the country, purpose and length of stay. Pay attention to date formats: some fields ask for the month and year of the visit, while others require arrival and departure dates. Do not confuse having been issued a visa with actually travelling. The question about refusals and other immigration problems covers the United Kingdom and all other countries at any time: a refusal must be declared even if it occurred more than 10 years ago and you were subsequently granted a visa. Check the event type, country, date and description against the available decision. If you received a visa and travelled after a refusal, your explanation must reflect the correct sequence of events. Also check answers about refusal of entry or permission to stay, deportation, entry bans and other immigration problems, and separately about breaches of UK immigration rules.

Consistency with Previous Applications

Current Application Previous Application Supporting Documents
Details that must match

If you have applied for a UK visa before, try to find a copy of your previous form and compare it with the current application. When applying again, check that your new answers are consistent with the information provided previously. Pay particular attention to facts that have not changed: for example, if you have worked continuously for the same employer, the employment start date should match the one previously stated. If you still live at the same address, the date you moved in should not change either. However, your length of service and residence will have increased: calculate them as at the date of the new application. Also check personal and family details, previous travel dates and visa refusals. A change of employer, higher income, marriage or a move may significantly alter your circumstances. Such changes are acceptable: explain what changed and when, where necessary, and attach supporting documents. Facts that have not changed must not contradict previous information. If there was a mistake in your earlier application, enter the correct information and explain the discrepancy in Extra information.

Frequently Asked Questions About the UK Visa Application Form

When you apply for a UK visa through Go for Travel, our specialists carefully review your circumstances and answer questions about completing the form, preparing the necessary documents, the submission procedure and the scope of our services. We explain what information the application requires, help clarify difficult wording and align your answers with the documents. You can discuss any questions with us during preparation. For those applying independently or still deciding between applying on their own and using our company’s help, we have provided detailed answers below about completing the form. This section primarily covers Standard Visitor visa applications for tourism, family visits and permitted business trips. If you cannot find the answer you need, request visa application assistance or ask a question about the form in the comments at the bottom of the page. Describe which item is causing difficulty and the current stage of your application so that we can advise what information to check and how to clarify your answer in light of your circumstances.

Where Do I Complete the UK Visa Application Form?

The UK visa application form is completed and submitted only through the official UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) service. For tourism, a family visit or a business trip, follow the Standard Visitor visa application page on GOV.UK to the online form. Other websites do not replace the official UKVI service. If you need a different visa category, first choose the appropriate application route: the form’s questions and application requirements may differ.

Before starting, prepare your current international passport and information about your employment and income, family, previous travel and plans for visiting the United Kingdom. Provide an email address that you can regularly access and check. The form separately asks ‘Which email address should we use to contact you with any questions about your application?’ and ‘Which email address should we use to send a decision on your application?’. Check which address is selected for application queries and which for the decision: they may differ from the email address entered initially. Notifications about the application’s progress and outcome will be sent to the selected addresses; also watch for messages from the visa application centre. Keep application-related emails and check your spam folder.

If you apply through Go for Travel, first download and complete the questionnaire in Russian. Our specialists will use your answers and documents to complete the official application on the UKVI website. Before submission, you will receive the fully completed application for review and confirmation. You can read all the answers, report any changes in your circumstances and agree the final version. After submission, we will also provide a copy of the submitted form. Keep it in your personal records: it will help you retrieve the information you provided and compare it with a new application when applying for a UK visa in the future.

Which Language Should I Use to Complete the Application?

Answers in the UK visa application form must be entered in English. We recommend choosing English for the questions and guidance from the outset. A Russian or other-language translation may not accurately convey the meaning of individual phrases and may mislead you about the information expected. Read each question together with its guidance and clarify its meaning before answering. Choosing a language for the questions does not change the required language of the answers, as stated on the online application’s language selection page. A separate question in the English language section, ‘We may have to talk to you about your application. Which language would you prefer to use?’, concerns your preferred language for communication about the application. For example, the woman’s sample application selects Russian even though every answer is completed in English. Do not confuse the communication language with the language used to complete the form.

Enter the applicant’s surname and first name exactly as they appear in the international passport they intend to travel with. Write other names, organisation names and addresses in Latin characters following transliteration rules, and use consistent spelling throughout the form. Detailed guidance and a free online tool for UK visa applications are available in our transliteration section. Transliteration does not replace translation: descriptions of your work, purpose of travel and additional circumstances must be written in English and accurately convey their meaning.

Check both spelling and the substance of your answers: for example, distinguish monthly from annual income and personal expenses from the whole family’s budget. Automatic translation may help prepare a draft, but the final text must be read carefully. If another person translates or completes the application, read the entire completed form before submission and confirm that the answers reflect your circumstances and documents. As the applicant, you are responsible for the accuracy of the information, regardless of who completed the form. After submission, obtain a copy of the version actually submitted and keep it in your personal records for future visa applications.

Can I Save the Application and Continue Later?

Yes, you can save the application and continue later. Open the menu showing the applicant’s name at the top of the page and select Return to this application later. The Application saved page displays a unique link for returning to the form. Save it and click Email this link to send it to the email address entered in the application. The Return to your application button takes you straight back to the form.

To continue after signing out, follow the saved link or the link in the UKVI email and enter your sign-in details. If you cannot find the email in your inbox, check your spam folder. Do not share the link with others: it provides access to your application. On the Application saved page, the system warns that you must return to the form within 10 weeks or it will be deleted to protect your data. Further sign-in guidance is provided in the official GOV.UK instructions. Download your part-completed application (PDF) lets you download the partially completed form for review. This copy does not mean the application has already been submitted for assessment.

We recommend completing the application without long interruptions, having prepared the necessary information and documents in advance. It is better to finish in one or several consecutive sessions, leaving time for a careful review. Returning to the form several weeks later makes it easier to forget what you have entered, overlook explanations or leave different versions of your plans in separate answers. After a break, reread the completed sections and check the consistency of dates, amounts and other details. At the same time, the option to save the form gives you time to confirm missing information: there is no need to guess simply to finish quickly.

Does a Child and Every Family Member Need a Separate Application?

Yes, every applicant who needs a UK visa must have a separate official UKVI application, including children of any age. One form for the whole family does not replace individual applications. After each form is completed, the visa fee is paid separately for that applicant. There is no combined family fee, as stated on the Standard Visitor visa application page. A parent or another authorised representative completes a child’s form: the applicant’s details must be the child’s, while parental information is entered in the relevant sections.

Each family member, including a child, also needs a separate account on the VFS Global visa application centre website, linked to their application and GWF number. Every applicant needs their own appointment and appointment confirmation. When applying together, check that confirmations have been issued for everyone: one parent’s appointment does not replace the spouse’s or child’s appointment.

Go for Travel offers a group discount on our services for family applications. In addition, if children under 14 apply with you, you do not need to complete separate Russian-language questionnaires for them. Adult applicants complete their own questionnaires, and our specialists obtain the information for children’s forms from the documents provided, checking with the parents where necessary. This reduces the amount you need to fill in yourself and simplifies preparation of the family’s applications. A separate official UKVI application is still mandatory for every child: our specialists complete it, create the account and arrange the visa application centre appointment. The group discount applies to our service fees and does not reduce the UKVI visa fee.

In the child’s application, carefully check the details of parents, accompanying adults, accommodation and funding. The Child traveller section asks ‘How many adults do you want to list on your visa?’ and ‘Which adults will travel with you?’. Identify the adults accompanying the child and check their names, passport numbers and contact details against their documents and the parents’ applications. Requirements for accompaniment and parental consent are set out in the GOV.UK guidance for applicants under 18.

It is helpful to review family applications side by side: name spellings, shared dates, addresses and allocation of expenses must be consistent. Reflect individual differences according to the actual circumstances. For example, in our samples, the parents answer No to ‘Will you be travelling to the UK with someone who is not your partner, spouse, or dependant?’, while the child answers Yes and identifies a parent. The question is asked from each applicant’s perspective, so answers may differ for the same family trip. For example, if one parent returns earlier, this must be clear from their application and the information about whom the child will stay with in the United Kingdom and travel home with.

How Do I Complete the Application Without Tickets or a Hotel Booking?

You do not need purchased tickets or a paid hotel booking to complete the Standard Visitor visa application. UKVI recommends not booking travel before receiving a visa decision. However, the form must describe a clear provisional plan: intended travel dates, cities, length of stay, accommodation and expected expenses. In ‘Give details of the main purpose of your visit and anything else you plan to do on your trip.’, describe the purpose of the visit and your planned activities. If you combine tourism with visiting relatives, reflect both parts of the trip, as our examples do. If you have chosen a hotel but have not booked it, state your intended accommodation without claiming that the booking is confirmed. When staying with relatives or friends, agree the address and dates in advance.

We recommend preparing a detailed day-by-day itinerary and attaching it to your application. It helps show where you plan to go, how long you will spend in each place, where you will stay, which places you want to visit and how the budget was calculated. This is our recommendation: under UKVI’s tourism guidance, a separate itinerary is not mandatory, but an applicant must have plans for the visit and describe them in the form. Develop an itinerary that suits your interests, circumstances and financial means. An unadapted template downloaded from the internet does not explain your trip: the plan must be realistic in terms of timing, travel between places and costs.

If hotels or other parts of the trip are already booked, you may attach the confirmations to explain your plans, but they are not mandatory and do not replace a description of the visit. In Accommodation details, ‘Where are you planning to stay in the UK?’ concerns your intended accommodation, while ‘Will you be staying anywhere else in the UK?’ refers to other stops during the trip. If you change hotels or stay with a relative for part of the time, list the accommodation, addresses and dates in sequence. Check that dates, addresses and lengths of stay agree across the form, itinerary and attached documents. The budget must include transport, accommodation and everyday expenses, and show who pays for them. Even without tickets or bookings, the application should make clear what trip you are planning and how it will be funded.

How Do I Declare a Sponsor and Travel Funding in the Application?

In Income and expenditure, state whether anyone is helping to pay for the trip: ‘Will anyone be paying towards the cost of your visit?’. If so, select who is providing the support in ‘Who is paying towards the cost of your visit?’ and complete the sponsor’s details, including Name and Address. For example, a relative or friend falls under ‘Someone I know (for example, family or friend)’. Support may be full or partial: free accommodation with a relative does not mean they are paying for the whole trip.

In ‘How much money will they be paying towards your visit?’, enter the amount of support for this specific applicant in the requested currency. In response to ‘Why are they helping to pay for your visit?’, explain your relationship to the sponsor, why they are helping and which expenses they cover: tickets, accommodation, transport, meals or other costs. If the sponsor is not a close relative, it is especially important to explain the relationship and reason for funding clearly. The separate question ‘How much money are you personally planning to spend on your visit to the UK?’ concerns your own funds. For family applications, distinguish each traveller’s expenses from the overall family budget.

Attach a sponsorship letter explaining the reasons for support, its amount and extent, together with documents establishing your relationship to the sponsor and their financial means, such as bank statements and an employment letter if they are employed. The letter must agree with the answers in the form. If the sponsor is in the United Kingdom, provide evidence of their lawful presence there. Further guidance on evidence of support is available in UKVI’s document guidance.

The sponsor’s documents do not replace evidence of the applicant’s own circumstances. Even if someone else pays for the entire trip, UKVI assesses your overall situation, including employment, finances and ties to your country of residence. In Employment, state your own status in response to ‘What is your employment status?’. For an employed applicant, ‘How much do you earn each month – after tax?’ concerns their own monthly net income, not the sponsor’s. Attach documents relevant to your circumstances: for an employed applicant, for example, an employment letter and evidence of their own income and finances; for a child, evidence of schooling and parental support. If you are not working or are financially dependent on family, state this clearly and substantiate the actual situation. Having a financially secure sponsor does not, by itself, explain your circumstances or reasons for returning after the visit.

What Should I Write in the Additional Information Section?

Extra information is intended for additional explanations about your application. The form states: ‘If you needed to add more information about your application but were not able to, you can write it here.’ In Add further details, you can explain circumstances that you could not describe fully in other answers or clarify information in your documents. Write in English: identify the question your explanation relates to, set out specific facts and, where necessary, refer to a supporting document.

For example, page 12 of the man’s sample application explains the total budget, each traveller’s expenses and who pays them, and distinguishes free accommodation with a relative from paid hotel nights. For ‘What is the total amount of money you spend each month?’, you can clarify whether the figure includes personal expenses, contributions to the household budget and support for a child. If the employer’s address is in a different city from your home, explain that you work remotely.

In a child’s application, you can explain that the declared income is pocket money from the parents, that they pay the main expenses separately, and that the school absence has been approved and documented. For example, ‘What kind of regular additional income do you have?’ asks about the source of regular additional income, while ‘Total amount of regular additional income that you get in a year’ asks for the annual amount. In our example, GBP 125 per month in pocket money equals GBP 1,500 per year; Extra information separately explains that the parents pay the child’s main expenses.

Provide specific explanations, rather than requests for a visa or general promises to return. Phrases such as ‘please grant me a visa’ and ‘I will definitely return to Russia’ do not, by themselves, explain your answers or substantiate your circumstances. Instead of a long motivational letter, state facts that help explain your situation: employment arrangements, family commitments, continuing education, or reasons for unusual amounts and differences between documents. Do not copy explanations from the examples if they do not apply to you.

Additional information does not replace answers in the main sections or supporting documents. If you find a mistake while the form is still editable, correct the original field rather than leaving contradictory information. Before submitting, check that the explanations agree with the whole application and the documents. If there are no additional circumstances, there is no need to fill the section simply to add length: the form itself offers the option to proceed using Save and continue.

What Should I Do If I Find an Error Before or After Submission?

If you find an error, first assess its significance and identify the current stage of your Standard Visitor visa application. A minor typo in free text that does not change the answer’s meaning or misrepresent the applicant’s details does not, by itself, require cancellation and a new form. Errors in passport details, travel dates, amounts, employment, sponsor information or previous refusals need closer consideration. Check which answer is wrong, whether it affects the understanding of your circumstances and whether it affects other sections: for example, changing travel dates may alter accommodation duration and the budget.

  • If the visa fee has not yet been paid. While the form remains editable, you can return to questions and change answers multiple times. Correct the information in the original field, save it using Save and continue, and check related sections. Before final confirmation and payment, reread the entire application and compare the answers with your prepared documents.
  • If the visa fee has already been paid. The submitted form cannot be edited. The system describes the procedure in Cancel your application and get a refund: to change information, you must cancel the application and submit a new one. To cancel, go to Section 6: further actions and select cancel your application. On Cancel your visa and get a refund, answer ‘Why are you asking for a refund?’. The option ‘a different reason’ is appropriate when correcting an error. Confirm that you understand that requesting a refund cancels the application, then click Cancel visa. If a visa application centre appointment has already been booked, it must also be cancelled. After cancellation, complete a new form with the correct details and pay the fee for the new application.

Cancelling a Standard Visitor visa application before providing biometrics at the visa application centre entitles you to a full refund of the visa fee. The money is automatically returned to the card or account used for payment. According to the official GOV.UK guidance, the refund can take up to four weeks, or 28 days from cancellation. In our company’s experience, refunds usually take from two days to a week. Keep the cancellation and payment confirmations until the money arrives.

Voluntarily cancelling an application to correct an honest mistake is not, by itself, a visa refusal or grounds for refusing a new application. The new application is assessed on its information and supporting documents. You should therefore not leave a significant error uncorrected simply because you are concerned about cancelling the form and requesting a fee refund. The downloaded PDF is a copy of the completed form. Editing that file on your computer does not change the information in the application already submitted to UKVI.

What to Do After Completing the UK Visa Application

Completing the UK visa application form is the initial stage of the visa process. After preparing and checking the answers, the applicant must finalise the application, select the requested visa validity, pay the visa fee, book a visa application centre appointment and submit the prepared documents for assessment. A saved form alone does not mean all submission stages are complete. To apply for a Standard Visitor visa through VFS Global in Russia, you must also upload supporting documents and translations, attend the visa application centre for biometrics and await the UKVI decision. After approval, you need to access your eVisa: create a UKVI account, link it to your visa and check your personal details, the validity period and the linked international passport. Below we explain these steps and what is required at each stage.

The subsequent steps take place in different systems. In the official UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) service, you complete and confirm the form, choose the visa validity and pay the visa fee. You then move to your account on the official VFS Global visa application centre website to choose the city, date and time of your appointment, upload documents and, if needed, select and pay for additional services. VFS Global manages appointments and biometric collection, while UKVI visa officers assess the application and documents. Keep your GWF number, final form, payment and appointment confirmations, and access to the email address used for notifications.

The UKVI form follows a sequential process, but difficulties may arise when booking with VFS Global: technical issues, no available appointments or no suitable dates. Therefore, paying the visa fee does not mean that a visa application centre appointment has been booked. If your preferred time is unavailable, our VFS Global appointment bot monitors newly available slots and automatically books an appointment within the agreed conditions. When clients apply through Go for Travel, we help them complete this stage using our bot. The appointment is made through the visa application centre’s official system, and the applicant receives a confirmation once it is booked.

1. Check the Application and Accept the Conditions

Before proceeding to payment, once again check your answers against your documents. In Documents, read the Mandatory documents and Other documents lists and confirm that you will provide the required documents. On Visitor conditions, read the conditions of stay in the United Kingdom and confirm that you have read and understood them. Then, in Declaration, confirm the accuracy of the information and supporting documents, and read the application conditions and rules on use of your personal data. Specify who is applying: the applicant, a child's parent or legal guardian, or a representative, and click I accept the above. Review the confirmations on Check your answers and click Continue to proceed to Pay, where you select the visa validity and pay the visa fee.

2. Choose the Visa Validity and Pay the Visa Fee

After checking the form and confirming the application, go to Pay on the UKVI website. Before paying, select the Standard Visitor visa with the required validity: 6 months, 2 years, 5 years or 10 years. The visa fee depends on the chosen duration. Check the visa option and total payment amount, then pay the fee. Regardless of the visa validity, payment is made online by bank card. Due to current payment restrictions, cards issued by Russian banks are not accepted. If you do not have a foreign bank card, you can use our visa fee payment assistance: we will pay the fee for your application using a foreign bank card. Bear in mind that the visa fee is charged for assessing the application and is not refunded if the visa is refused.

3. Save the Application and Proceed to VFS Global Booking

After successful payment of the visa fee, the Further actions you must complete page opens. Download the document checklist using Download checklist and the final application through download a copy of your application form. Keep the checklist for the remaining submission steps and the form for your personal records and future visa applications.

To move to the visa application centre system, click Provide documents and biometrics. The Provide your biometrics page opens with a notice that you will be redirected to UKVI's commercial partner's website to arrange biometrics. Click Continue, and the system will redirect you to the official VFS Global website. On the first transfer from your UKVI application, your VFS Global account is created automatically using your application details; no separate registration is required. In the account, you can choose the city, date and time yourself or use our VFS Global appointment bot. This is also where you upload the documents and translations for subsequent assessment by UKVI visa officers.

4. Book a Visa Application Centre Appointment and Upload Documents

We recommend reaching this stage with a fully prepared document set: all letters, statements and other evidence should already be collected, with English translations prepared for Russian-language documents. You will then only need to choose the city, date and time in your VFS Global account and upload the completed files. The procedure is explained in our guide to uploading documents to the visa application centre website. This sequence allows you to check the document set in advance and finish uploading without rushing before the appointment.

Supporting documents are submitted electronically for UKVI assessment. Upload the full set of documents and translations before attending the visa application centre. If the system rejects a file because of its format or size, adjust it to the stated requirements. For compression, conversion, merging or splitting PDFs, use our selection of PDF tools. After processing, check that all pages have been preserved and are clearly legible, then upload again and ensure that each file is attached to the correct application.

5. Attend the Visa Application Centre and Await the UKVI Decision

Attend VFS Global on the appointed date and time. You must bring the international passport entered in the application and your appointment confirmation. We additionally recommend bringing your Russian internal passport and printed copies of the application, checklist and document upload confirmation. For a child, bring the birth certificate and, if another adult is accompanying them, parental consent for that person to attend the visa application centre with the child.

Staff will check your identity and document upload status, take a digital photograph and collect fingerprints. Children under 5 do not provide fingerprints, but must attend in person to be photographed at the visa application centre. The international passport is returned the same day, and the electronic documents and biometrics are sent to UKVI. After the appointment, check the email address in your application, including the spam folder: requests and the decision notification are sent there. UKVI staff may also call the telephone number entered in the form if necessary, so remain able to receive calls from unfamiliar numbers.

According to our statistics, the average wait for a Standard Visitor visa decision is 27.2 calendar days. The calculation is based on 208 decisions, with data updated on 13.07.2026. Please bear in mind that this is only a guide for planning your trip: your application's processing time may be longer or shorter than the average. For comparison, the latest 20 decisions following submission in Moscow are published below, while detailed statistics showing actual processing times are available in the UK Visa Processing Times section.

6. Access Your eVisa After Approval

Once your application has been assessed, a UKVI decision email will be sent to the address entered in the form. If approved, it may state: 'Your application for a United Kingdom (UK) visa has been successful'. If you receive this email, congratulations – your visa has been approved! The next step is to access your eVisa through a UKVI account.

If you do not already have a UKVI account, create one and complete the eVisa registration according to the email instructions. If you already have an account, sign in and check access to your visa. We recommend reading our guide to eVisa registration and obtaining a Share Code. Before travelling, check your personal details, visa validity and linked international passport. If you need help, we offer a separate eVisa registration service; you can request it on the guide page.

Next Available VFS Global Appointments and Visa Processing Times

After confirming the application and paying the visa fee, you need to book a VFS Global appointment, upload the prepared documents and provide biometrics. When planning your trip, allow for two separate waiting periods: the time before your visa application centre appointment and the time until a decision from UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI). The tables below help you assess the next available appointment dates and actual application processing times. Detailed explanations and city-specific statistics are available in the UK Visa Processing Times section.

Our UK visa application centre appointment bot continuously monitors availability in the VFS Global system. The first table shows the nearest dates, number of slots and available times at five visa application centres in Russia, based on the latest check. The update time appears below the table. Availability changes throughout the day, so use this information as a guide. To book independently, select a date and time in your VFS Global account, complete the booking and save the appointment confirmation.

The second table shows the latest 20 decisions following document submission in Moscow. It brings together actual processing times for completed applications from Go for Travel clients and independent applicants, including members of our Telegram chat. We publish the information after verification. It helps estimate the wait for a UKVI decision, but an individual application’s processing time may be longer or shorter. If you apply independently, we would appreciate it if, after receiving your decision, you share your processing time through the website form. Your experience will help other applicants plan their trips.

How We Complete the Form as Part of Comprehensive Visa Assistance

When applying for a UK visa through Go for Travel’s comprehensive service, completing the form is one of the key preparation stages. Below we explain how this work is organised, from discussing your circumstances and receiving documents to checking answers and agreeing the form before submission. You provide information in Russian, and our specialists formulate the answers in English and compare them with the documents. This helps you understand what is required from you, how the review works and when you can make clarifications.

1. We Discuss Your Trip and Circumstances

Before starting the form, we discuss the purpose of your trip, intended dates and travelling party. We clarify your employment, income sources, financial circumstances in Russia, planned expenses and travel funding. Where necessary, we discuss your family circumstances and visa history, including previous applications. This helps determine which documents you need, which circumstances require explanation and how to present your situation fully and consistently to UKVI.

2. We Receive Your Questionnaire and Documents

You complete our Russian-language questionnaire and provide documents according to an individual checklist. The questionnaire is a working draft: if some information is incomplete or a question is unclear, flag it for discussion with your specialist. We will help clarify the issue and obtain the missing details. We prepare the application using the full document set, comparing the questionnaire answers with your international passport, employment letters, financial documents and other evidence. We check names, dates, amounts, sources of income and travel expenses. All inaccuracies and discrepancies identified are discussed with you before the final form is completed.

3. We Complete and Check the Application

Using the questionnaire and documents, a Go for Travel specialist completes the UKVI form in English, taking account of current application requirements. They check names against the international passport and verify the translation, dates and amounts. Where necessary, our specialists also prepare a cover letter and explanations in Extra Information to describe your circumstances. After completion, another staff member reviews the form, checking the answers against the documents again and verifying their consistency. This review helps reduce the risk of errors and overlooked inaccuracies.

4. We Agree the Application with You Before Submission

After completing and internally checking the form, we send it to your email address. You also have access to your profile on the UKVI website, where we complete the application. You can carefully read the answers, check the details, ask questions and discuss clarifications with your specialist. We make and agree any necessary corrections with you before submission. We submit the form electronically to UKVI only after your confirmation. After payment of the visa fee, we also send the final copy for your personal records. You can keep it and use it to check previously provided information when preparing future visa applications.
